Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine, reiterated Monday that there was no quid pro quo with the President of the United States Donald Trump, media reports say.
House Democrats launched impeachment proceedings against President Trump claiming that he pressured his Ukrainian counterpart to make him investigate Joe Biden, 2020 presidential candidate. Yet President Trump denied the accusations. Zelensky also repeatedly said that his conversation with Trump was “normal.”
“I did not speak with US President Trump in those terms: you give me this, I give you that,” Zelensky said Monday in an interview with western news outlets.
According to reports released after the interview, Zelensky said he did not understand the accusations put forward against President Trump.
Ukrainian President also commented on the upcoming Normandy Four Summit set to take place in Paris on Dec. 9, where he will meet with Vladimir Putin, President of Russian Federation, for the first time. The two leaders are expected to discuss conflict in Ukraine and necessary steps to put end to it.
