US delegation to set out to climate change conference despite withdrawing from Paris accord


The US delegation is setting out to the conference on climate change in Spain on Monday.

The United States is pulling out from the Paris climate agreement on reduction of global temperature 2 degrees Celsius.

“The United States will continue to participate in ongoing climate change negotiations and meetings – such as COP25 – to ensure a level playing field that protects US interests,” the US State Department said on Saturday.

Ambassador Marcia Bernicat, principal deputy assistant secretary of state for oceans and international environmental and scientific affairs, will chair the American delegates.

Donald Trump described the Paris Treaty as elitist while claiming the country’s pullout and being “elected to represent the citizens of Pittsburgh, not Paris.”

Some experts note the significance os essential for obstruction from global warming consequences droughts, an increase of floods and storms.
