Trump wants to weaken dollar

Donald Trump wants to weaken a dollar so much that he order his assistants to develop special measures to devalue the US currency.

US President Donald Trump is worried about the strengthening of a dollar as a threat to his economic agenda, and he asked his assistants to think about ways to weaken the US currency.

Trump asked questions about a dollar last week during interviews with Judy Shelton and Christopher Waller, who he offered at positions on the board of governors of the Federal Reserve. He advised that a strong currency could cool the economic boom, which, according to his calculations, should provide him with a second presidential term.

Meanwhile, the main economic adviser to the president Larry Kudlow and the minister of finance Steven Mnuchin oppose any US intervention to weaken a dollar. Executive vice president of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis Christopher Waller told Trump that the members of the central bank did not take into account the value of a dollar during deciding on rates. Kudlow, who participated in the meeting in the Oval Office, reminded the president that the Ministry of Finance of the monitoring a dollar is responsible for. Bloomberg could not receive official comments on this topic from the Ministry of Finance and the White House.

Nevertheless, everyone knows that Trump has been calling for a weakening of the American currency for a long time. Another question is that a dollar has grown substantially since the beginning of last year, and Trump cannot do anything with it.
