Trump to Democrats: I want to do infrastructure, but not under these circumstances

US President Donald Trump held a meeting with two Democratic leaders, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer, Wednesday, where he stated that he would not work with Democrats on number of issues, such as infrastructure, pending trade agreements, and the cost of prescription drugs, if they don’t stop investigating him.

Trump said that it wouldn’t be possible to work on shared issues if “phony” congressional probes hang over the administration.  “You probably can’t go down two tracks,” said Trump after the meeting at the White House. “You can go down the investigation track, or you can go down the investment track.”

A few hours before the meeting Pelosi had spoken at a press-conference and accused Trump of being engaged in a “cover-up,” which may have caused President’s frustration. Pelosi said, Trump failed to meet her expectations when he “backed out of talks.”

“For some reason, maybe it was a lack of confidence on his part, but he couldn’t come back for the greatness of the challenge we have,” Pelosi said. “I pray for the president of the United States, and I pray for the United States of America.”
