Trump slams ‘sick’ Democrats calling for impeachment

US President Donald Trump blasted Democrats’ new call for impeachment proceedings, reported The Hill Saturday.

The calls for impeachment have doubled down after former special counsel Robert Mueller’s testimony before House Judiciary and House Intelligence Committees on Wednesday.

“The Dems are now coming out of shock from the terrible Mueller performance, and are starting to spin impeachment all over again,” Trump tweeted Saturday. “How sick & disgusting and bad for our Country are they. What they are doing is so wrong, but they do it anyway. Dems have become the do nothing Party!”

President Trump also commented on Mueller’s testimony and called it a “display of ineptitude & incompetence.”

A number of Democrats have joined those already calling for impeachment proceedings to begin as soon as possible. According to the report, Democratic Reps. Lisa Blunt Rochester, Katherine Clark, Peter DeFazio, John Garamendi, Annie Kuster, Mike Levin and Lori Trahan expressed their support for impeachment after Mueller’s appearance before congressional panels. As of today, 99 House Democrats are supporting the inquiry.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi once again voiced her opinion that President Trump cannot be impeached now as Democrats need more evidence.

Speaking at a press conference Pelosi stated: “Whatever decision we make in that regard would have to be done with our strongest possible hand, and we still have some outstanding matters in the courts.”

Former special counsel in his testimony before the Committees restated that during his 22-month investigation he and his team did not “reach a determination as to whether the president committed a crime.” However, Mueller clearly said that the president could be charged with obstruction of justice once he leaves his office.
