Shooting at American University: 2 dead, 4 injured, suspect detained


Two people were shot in a gunfight at the University of the campus of University of North Carolina in Charlotte (UNC Charlotte), as reports. As the chief of UNCC police Jeff Baker said other four people were injured, three of them are in a critical situation. One of the officers quickly found the room where hid the suspected, disarmed him and took into custody. On a video, posted in Twitter by Jordan Peers, can be seen as people are fleeing from the library of the campus, when the police are in a hurry to this district.

Scharlotte-Meclenborg’s police department identified the suspect as a 22-year-old Tristan Andrew Terrell. He has not been charged with charges yet.

“He was right the one that we were following,” said Baker. He added that the suspect said nothing when he was being handcuffed. One of the wounded is a member of the Alpha Tau Omega brotherhood Drew Pescaro.

North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper told reporters that he plans to analyze the situation to determine how to prevent another shooting. “Parents don’t have to worry about their students when they send them to school,” Cooper said. “And I know that this violence must stop.”

University graduate Shamar Crosby told CBSN that it was the last day of class and all the students were celebrating it. According to the guy, they were preparing to go to a concert of rapper Waka Flocka Flame.
