Russia sends letter to Pelosi regarding Yumasheva’s detention

Chairman of the State Duma’s Foreign Affairs Committee Leonid Slutsky said at the committee’s meeting on October, 9, that Speaker of the Russian State Duma (parliament’s lower chamber) Vyacheslav Volodin was going to write a letter to Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, concerning Russian MP Inga Yumasheva’s detention and interrogation at a New York airport.

The letter prompts to pull joint efforts into leaving the detained and encourages to “refrain from these incidents in the future,” he said.

Slutsky confirmed that Russian official would carry on the relationship with American lawmakers, and stressed that Russia would not file a moratorium on State Duma MP’s visits to the US and plan the trips only with the further precise organization.

Anatoly Antonov, Russian Ambassador to the U.S., reported on October, 5, that Umasheva arrived at the New York airport for the Fort Ross Dialogue where she was held and asked by the FBI. Russia then issued a diplomatic note to the US Department of State, as it was flagrantly since Yumasheva was the one who contributed to look up the US-Russian relations, State Duma Chairperson Vyacheslav Volodin said.
