Moscow does worry about the attacks on Aramco and “resolutely condemns” the actions towards non-military objects that could allegedly cause the disparity in energy markets and the world economy itself, the Russian Foreign Ministry claimed on Monday.
Moscow also pointed out that the strikes have become “direct consequence of the continuing crisis in Yemen” that started in 2015 by Saudi Arabia and its counterparts and arouse the deaths of thousand people.
The Foreign Ministry Sergei Lavrov also cautioned about “counterproductive” attempts to consider the situation around the strikes on oil objects as a tool for blowing up the tension against Iran regarding the US efforts to do it during the last years.
The dozen of drone launched by Yemen’s Ansarullah movement seized the major oil objects in Abqaiq and Khurais on Saturday. Those attacks dropped approximately 50% of the kingdom’s oil production and shortage of its supply amounted to 5,7 million barrels a day.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo accused Iran of the operation on Sunday, saying, “Tehran is behind nearly 100 attacks on Saudi Arabia” and that “there is no evidence the attacks came from Yemen”.
Tehran, meanwhile, refute his statement and claimed Washington moves from a failed company to “maximum pressure” to one of “maximum lying” and “deceit” against the Islamic Republic.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Seyed Abbas Mousavi accused Pompeo of telling lies about Tehran and denied his announcements about Iran’s adherence to Yemini attacks on Saudi Arabia.
“Such allegations and blind and fruitless remarks are meaningless and not understood in diplomatic framework,” he said.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif also commented on Pompeo’s statement noting that the US diplomat refers to a “max deceit” campaign against Tehran in the result of the Administration to have failed its anti-Iran “maximum pressure” policy.
“US & its clients are stuck in Yemen because of illusion that weapon superiority will lead to military victory,” Zarif tweeted.
