Russian President Vladimir Putin at an economic forum in Moscow highly appreciated the end of “internal political battles” in the United States, which blamed Moscow for intervention in the presidential election in 2016.
“We see what is going on there in the U.S. now,” he said. “Thank God nobody is accusing us anymore of interfering in the U.S. elections. Now they’re accusing Ukraine”.
Putin made his comments on the conflict in the United States triggered by the 25-July phone conversation between Donald Trump and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky.
Fiona Hill, a former top Russia analyst for the White House, gave testimonies on Thursday, where she pointed out that Washington lacks evidence of Russia’s meddling.
“Based on questions and statements I have heard, some of you on this committee appears to believe that Russia and its security services did not conduct a campaign against our country and that perhaps, somehow, for some reason, Ukraine did,” Hill noted.
