Nigel Farage says Britain needs new representative in US

Nigel Farage, British politician and a Leader of the Brexit Party, claimed that British envoy in Washington Sir Kim Darroch, whose leaked memos show him calling the US President Donald Trump “incompetent” and his administration “uniquely dysfunctional,” should be sacked for such disgraceful comments, reported The Daily Mail Sunday.

Farage, who is a friend and supporter of President Trump, said that the UK needs another representative in the US as Darroch is a no-fit. “From the moment Trump was elected this man [Kim Darroch] was the wrong person to be the British ambassador,” said Farage.

“The comments are wholly unsurprising but for him to speculate about Trump’s alleged involvement with Russia shows him to be totally unsuitable for the job and the sooner he is gone the better.”

Farage later commented on the matter once again on Twitter.

Former Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab said that Darroch’s comments were “unwise.”

“I wouldn’t pass that sort of very personalized judgment,” Raab stated. “I think the thing with diplomatic cables, and I used to work at the Foreign Office, I would be quite careful about what you say which is on a personal basis in those cables because it is all very well talking about the substance of the relationship, the policies, but I think some of that may in retrospect be regarded as unwise.” Raab also expressed his hope that the two sides will get over the comments made by Darroch and US-British relations would not suffer

Yet David Gauke, UK Justice Secretary, defended Darroch and said that ambassadors have to be “honest” and “tell the truth as they see it.” He also said that it was “disgraceful” that Darroch’s memos had been leaked.
