Lavrov asks Europe for fixed position towards Iranian nuclear deal


At that moment Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is visiting German. Besides, he asked Europe for taking more fixed position towards a nuclear deal in Iran yesterday.

Lavrov pointed out Russian anxiety of the U.S. leaving a treaty on nuclear weapon control.

Russian Foreign Minister and his German colleague Heiko Maas had talks on the summit’s outlook in the Norman format during the meeting at St.Petersburg.

“We really discussed the issue of a summit in the form of the Quartet. We stick to the view that such a meeting requires preliminary work to have relevant results,” he said.

German Minister also pointed out the possibilities of progress to manage the situation in the eastern part of Ukraine.

“After Zelenskiy’s victory [in the presidential election of Ukraine] there were positive signals, for example, the separation of troops. Further progress in Ukraine is possible,” he noted.

In Lavrov’s words, Russia intends to support the idea of saving gas supply through Ukrainian route.

 “Russia is ready to agree to preserve supplies [gas] on the Ukrainian route, it is open to agree on this issue on the basis of economically sound and workable conditions in practice,” he denounced.

Moreover, Heiko Maas believe that the creation the Nord Stream 2 pipeline as the economic project would gain the success for the European Union.
