Is all well in Iraq?

Foreign diary

On Tuesday, Iran attacked the US sites in Iraq in the response to killing Qasem Soleimani, a leader of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and a top State official.

Qasem Soleimani was included in the Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons List (SDN), which is often used in extremely political purposes for the elimination of persona non grata and was killed in the order of Donald Trump.

The true motives of such a decision are open to question. Was there a small-minded and by far silly populism before the 2020 election, pressure from the military lobby or acute political motion of a national leader? The history will make out and put everything in its order.

It’s important to pay attention to the formation of a terroristic part of the US Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) lists which contain more than 3.000 names the origin of which is impossible to trace or they occur over and over. Under which excuse people get under the black mark – remains a mystery.

The political motives of such documents can be seen with the naked eye, and a prime example, in this case, can be Israel which does its best to have an effective fight with a real terroristic threat without the public lists and target pellets.

Violating norms of the international law and alone making a decision on the elimination of politician-personas non grata, the fight with terrorism and extremism, called for stop bloodshed, turns out itself to the real terror.

According to the official data, despite the fact that even the US Congress has not been aware of President Trump’s actions, the responsibility of the United States cannot be detracted; it simply says about his intentions to conceal true motives – to carry out special operation to have opportunities to put its responsibility onto the acting administration and reduce Trump’s chance for re-election.

Right after the retaliatory attack at the American site, Iran’s Foreign Minister Muhammad Javad Zarif spoke out:

“Iran took & concluded proportionate measures in self-defense under Article 51 of UN Charter targeting base from which cowardly armed attack against our citizens & senior officials were launched. We do not seek escalation or war, but will defend ourselves against any aggression,” he said.

Iranian state television has announced that no less than “80 US terrorists” were killed as a result of airstrikes. Nevertheless, Iraq’s Defense representatives, being in close cooperation with the US command, say about the absence of victims among the Americans.

US President Donald Trump reported on his Twitter that damage and loss the US forces got turned out to be minimal.

At the same time, right after the set-off from the airport in Tehran, the Ukrainian Boeing 737-800 passenger plane crashed, carrying 176 people on board. According to media reports, there are no survivors. We cannot talk about the reasons for what happened before an independent expert assessment, but the fact of the catastrophe during the hot phase in US-Iran relations throws suspicion on the nature of the events.

It took more than 14 hours for the President’s administration to give the world community a long-broken record on the strength and power of the United States again. Donald Trump did not talk about the mistakes made and the horrors of the war but took the opportunity to declare his oil independence and reproach Russia, the UK, Germany, and China.

The events occurred confirmed only one thing – the US hegemony is steadily moving to the end, and Iran’s proportional response is only one of the first bricks in the foundation of the new world order. Unwillingness to put up with the inevitable and play by general international rules leads to the fact that the whole world sits on an American powderkeg. Today, Donald Trump must answer to the nation the main question – is the US ready to take responsibility for starting a new war and subsequent events in the world?
