US House Judiciary Committee issued a subpoena against Rob Porter, former Trump administration staff secretary who is mentioned in former special counsel Robert Mueller’s report, the Time reported Monday.
The subpoena was issued as a part of the Committee’s probe into presidency of Donald Trump, which may lead to impeachment.
Porter is now required to testify before the Committee panel on September 17. Former Trump Administration aide Rick Dearborn and Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski are also set to testify at the same hearing.
Mueller did not charge President Trump with obstruction of justice, yet said at this testimony last month that Trump can be charged once he leaves office. The Judiciary Committee is conducting its own investigation and subpoenaed a number of White House officials, yet the White House claimed all of them were “absolutely immune” and therefore did not appear before the panel.
