Former President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai claimed that the US government should restart peace negotiations with the Taliban group, South Asia’s News Agency ANI reported Thursday.
“Today I am calling on the US government to resume peace talks with the Taliban and we want the peace talks to be transparent,” Karzai stated.
US President Donald Trump last week pulled his country out of peace talks with the Taliban over the bombing in Kabul, which killed 12, including one American service man.
Former Afghan President also called on the Taliban leaders and stated they should start peace negotiations with the government of Afghanistan. Trump then proclaimed the peace talks ‘dead’ and said that the group has ‘no power to negotiate.’
