Does Trump have a trump card?

Foreign diary

Preparations for the US 2020 presidential election are on and all the candidates are trying their best to get elected. The one who wins cannot be judged, well, if we are not talking about the sitting US President Donald Trump.

Democrats decided to play it safe open an impeachment inquiry into President Trump. Some have suggested that Democrats are just not sure whether voters will support them in 2020. Republicans, in their turn, are doing the opposite thing trying to portray their opponents in the bad light.

Democrats have started preparing for impeachment long ago: last year they passed a number of amendments, which allow them to shorten the process of impeaching the president: now Dems do not need to hold a congressional vote to open the impeachment inquiry. The investigation into Trump is led by two House Committees at the same time, House Intelligence and Judiciary Committees led by Adam Schiff and Jerrold Nadler. Although former Special Counsel Robert Mueller found no evidence of President Trump colluding with Russians, he left open the question whether Trump obstructed justice, which means the Committees have something to work with, not even mentioning Trump’s call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The Committees Chairs have issued lots of subpoenas to former acting Trump administration officials.

Democrats will be working on impeachment so closely and the impeachment inquiry will clearly pass the House, however, Republicans-controlled Senate will not let the Democrats impeach Trump. Here ends the story of impeaching President Trump.

So Trump’s trump card is Republicans in the Senate and major media outlets shedding light on information manipulations.

Who is to win in this game of politics and what are the trump cards of Democrats? The question remains unanswered, but we will soon see the outcome.
