China says Moscow protests may be considered Western Interference in Russia’s domestic affairs

Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Tuesday that Western countries’ actions towards recent protests in Moscow may be viewed as interference in Russia’s domestic affairs, Russian News Agency TASS reported.

Geng Shuang, Ministry’s spokesman, told reporters that China supports position of Russian government. When asked about anti-government protests taking place in Russia, Shuang stated that “it is alarming that in this situation, certain Western countries spring out of nowhere and take malign actions.”

“We support the position of Russia’s authorities,” he said. “It is an example of interference in Russia’s domestic politics, which points to hegemonic claims.”

Previously China accused the US of interfering in its domestic relations as well. Russian government officials said they were discussing actions of the US towards Russia and China with the Chinese authorities, in terms of US interfering with their internal politics, and shared the relative information.
