Boston’s police got ready for possible conflicts with protesters of “Straight Pride Parade” who uphold the Trump’s policy and counter-protesters. They blame them for homophobia and extremism.
A group known as Super Happy Fun America made a controversial parade in reply to the extremely popular gay parade that is held annually in the U.S.
Critics consider organizers as white-supremacists who are eager to entice into the LGBT community in the most liberal cities and fix demonstrations to confront it.
«There are no racists in our group. You have to come to one of our meetings: it’s like the United Nations,» president John Hugo told AFP, defending the parade.
The demonstrations follow contradictions between leftists and white nationalists in the country.
Two weeks ago in Portland, a far-right rally and counter-demonstration came off by anti-fascist protestors without any troubles and close attention from police.
Super Happy Fun America web-site says that a Saturday’s parade must “spread awareness of issues impacting straights,» considering heterosexuals as «an oppressed majority» in Massachusetts, the first US state to legalize same-sex marriage.
However, the parade will have political intent the participants of which must hold pro-Trump floats. The website reflects a fake Trump’s photo with the placard that states #GreatToBeStraight. The “alt-right” members are going to participate including former Breitbart editor Milo Yiannopoulos who has been a proscribed person for many social websites to write about.
About 1,200 people will take part in the parade at 1600 GMT) in Copley Square. The participants will pass around a mile and a half (2.4 kilometers) away. Undercover policemen will observe the area.
