AOC willing to meet with Nancy Pelosi

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claimed that she was “absolutely willing” to meet with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, reported News Max.

Four freshman congresswomen Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Ayanne Pressley sat with Gayle King of CBS News on Tuesday night for an interview aired Wednesday morning to discuss their dispute with Pelosi and a recent attack on them by the US President Donald Trump.

AOC told King that her staff is working on arranging a one-on-one meeting with the House Speaker to “resolve their differences.” Pelosi’s spokesperson confirmed the information and added that Pelosi’s chief of staff met with his counterparts of OAC, Tlaib, Pressley and Omar.
Rep. Tlaib claimed that she would also be willing to meet with Pelosi, yet with conditions. “She can ask for a meeting to sit down with us for clarification,” she said.

“Acknowledge the fact that we are women of color, so when you do single us out, be aware of that and what you’re doing, especially because some of us are getting death threats, because some of us are being singled out in many ways because of our backgrounds, because of our experiences and so forth.”

Last week the group of four freshmen, now calling themselves a “squad,” accused House Speaker of being racist. AOC said that Pelosi was “singling out newly elected women of color.” President Trump then defended Pelosi, even though the two have been constantly criticising each other, and said there was no way she was racist.

In an interview, held before the House vote on condemning Trump’s comments, AOC accused Republicans of not doing enough and not having “the basic human decency.”

“They could not bring themselves to have the basic human decency to vote against the statement that the president made on the floor,” she said.

After the interview House voted to condemn Trump’s comments with only four Republicans supporting the vote.
