Anti-Trump and anti-American rallies in Kabul

Afghan presidential candidate Gulbuddin Hekmatyar offered Trump to explore his power on Putin.

On Friday, one of the most possible winners in the coming presidential elections in Afghanistan urged US President Donald Trump to try to use military force against Russia instead of death threats to the “oppressed Afghan people“.

Politicians and the public got into a huff by the US President’s plans on Afghanistan. If this plan is implemented, in Trump’s words, the Afghan war will end in 10 days. However, 10 million people will die, and Afghanistan itself will be wiped off the face of the Earth.

During the rally in Kabul, leader of coming presidential election Hekmatyar criticized Trump’s words. The crowd of thousands of people chanted: “Death to America, death to Trump.

“We ask Mr. Trump: if you have the courage and strength, and you are so confident in your military power, explore it on Putin, not on the oppressed Afghans,” said Hekmatyar.

Two years ago, Hekmatyar and his militants fought in Afghanistan on the side of the Taliban against the US and NATO. Hekmatyar concluded a ceasefire with the official government in Kabul in 2017.

The rage among the Afghans was caused by a phrase by Donald Trump during a meeting at the White House with Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan. Trump tried to explain that he needed the help of Islamabad in order to “get out of Afghanistan.”

“I have plans towards Afghanistan. If I wanted to win that war, Afghanistan would be wiped off the face of the Earth. It would have disappeared. It would all be over, literally, in 10 days. But I do not want … to go this way,” said the President.

Most Afghan presidential candidates and former President Hamid Karzai also criticized Trump for his words. Karzai said the U.S. President words present his “criminal thinking” and “contempt” for the Afghan people.

Hekmatyar who heads the Hizb-e-Islami political faction stands for a truce with the Taliban and a cessation of hostilities.
