‘138 MILLION dead’

The US President Donald Trump tweeted on Sunday morning: “Heartfelt condolences from the people of the United States to the people of Sri Lanka on the horrible terrorist attacks on churches and hotels that have killed at least 138 million people and badly injured 600 more. We stand ready to help!” At least 200 people were killed and more than 400 injured in a series of bomb blasts that hit churches and hotels across Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday.

Many Twitter users quickly pointed out great overestimation posting:
“138 million – stop drinking and tweeting boss”
“I shouldn’t be laughing, but o.m.g. am I laughing”.

As of Sunday, April 21, 2019, the population of Sri Lanka is 21 million people, which is 117 million less than stated by Mr Trump.
The US president deleted the tweet and said “138 people have been killed in Sri Lanka, with more that 600 badly injured, in a terrorist attack on churches and hotels. The United States offers heartfelt condolences to the great people of Sri Lanka. We stand ready to help!”

The church attacks in Sri Lanka have been allegedly carried out by suicide bombers, but there are no immediate claims of responsibility for the attacks say the officials.
